c.1834 - A Small Rural Village
A painting showing the south end of Winchester Street looking north - c.1834.

To give a time perspective on this pretty scene; in 1788 Britain started sending convicts to Australia. Up until 1807 Britain was active in the slave trade. In 1805 Admiral Lord Nelson was killed at Trafalgar while defeating the French and Spanish fleets. In 1815 the French were defeated at the battle of Waterloo.
