1895 Building of Batten's Avenue started
|
This infilling development was started by a local builder - Mr Batten. After building nos. 1-14, he started on the opposite side, but after nos. 15-17 he ran out of money. This is why houses 1-14 each have a garden on the opposite side of the road. These days the gardens are mostly used for car parking.
