Overton Scouts - 2015 Summer Term
Overton Scout Troop is part of the national Scout movement which is the largest youth organisation in the UK founded by Baden-Powell in 1907. Scouting provides a wide range of activities for young girls and boys from ages 8-25, the Scout section covers the age range 10-14 The scouts have just returned from their annual summer camp which this year was in Holland as part of an international Jamborette with 2,500 scouts from all over the world. The scouts got to take part in activities like canoeing, rafting, climbing, hiking, crafts, day trips and many more. Regular evening activities can range from a trip to the local woods to learn how to start fires without matches, to pancake making, to 1st Aid. All the activities are built around developing skills young people will need to grow up into responsible adults.
