This banner on the front of Peter Baker's fireplace shop proclaims the launch of Overton as a plastic bag free village. This campaign was driven by Peter and has the support of all the shopkeepers in the village. It has been reported widely in the national press and on television. The official "plastic bag free" status was declared at the annual late night shopping celebrations on 30th November 2007. Reuseable bags are on sale throughout the village and any disposable bags provided are biodegradeable.
