Canada Goose (Branta canadensis) - photographed on the River Test. These birds are a long established introduction from North America and are thriving. They can form large flocks and are attracted to golf courses with their lush grass. They look nice but are unwelcome because if left undisturbed, within a few days they can create a solid carpet of excrement. They are regarded as a pest by farmers because they eat their crops. They are also a danger to aircraft on take-off and landing.
