01_3SL_00_02 The Bank of England plaque was replaced above the front doors in 2006. The name St Luke's is derived from St Luke's Hospital for Lunatics founded in London in 1751. In 1916 the hospital premises were acquired by the Bank of England and became the St Luke's Printing Works for printing bank notes. The name was subsequently used for their hall in Overton.
